Romantic Comedy meets Workplace Drama  |  8 Episodes x 30 minutes

Finding love is fucking hard.

The awkward first dates with people who look nothing like their profile photos, the ghosting, the endless “you up?” texts at midnight...

That’s why JULIA KLINE and her start-up team are building “Pulse”, the most radically honest dating app on the market. With detailed psychometric testing and transparency-first policies, the dating world will no longer be based on shallow swipes and super likes. The irony? The app is being built by people who are absolute disasters at love.

Love Coded is an ensemble dramedy following the chaotic workplace of five 20-somethings in Berlin as they try to engineer an app that solves love… while failing at it themselves. At the center of it all is Julia, a brilliant but emotionally bruised American software developer who has sworn off men and dating after a soul crushing breakup, and FELIX, the app’s idealistic couples therapist, who’s hiding a little secret: despite being an expert on relationships, he's never actually been in love. They clash over everything until their mutual attraction makes things messier: they’re at each other’s throats, until they’re down each other’s throats.

Meanwhile, the rest of the team is dealing with their own romantic entanglements:

  • MAX, the charming but ethically-questionable CEO with honesty issues, whose “perfect” relationship is falling apart at the seams,

  • BERK, the hopeless romantic marketing director who serially dates closeted men,

  • ZARA, the polyamorous UX designer struggling to juggle multiple partners.

Each episode tracks a new phase of app development, from awkward market research, algorithm development and inevitable code meltdowns, to a viral marketing stunt that nearly implodes the team and a disastrous Beta-test party — all while their investors are breathing down their necks with insane time pressure to present their working prototype at the Dublin Tech Summit.

With the coming-of-age humor of HBO's Girls and the absurdity of the tech start-up world of Silicon Valley, Love Coded is about the paradox of our time: we crave deep, vulnerable connection, but turn to tech for control, protection, and certainty. Can love be engineered and predicted? Or does coding love only reveal just how human, and messy, it really is?

So, finding love is fucking hard, but will these losers at love be able to create love for others?
